HARGEISA – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro, has this evening announced the immediate suspension of the recent decision to raise the prices of internet and mobile communication services within the country.
In an official statement from the Presidential Palace, President Irro confirmed that the Government of Somaliland and the nation’s telecommunications service providers have reached a mutual understanding to halt the implementation of the price increases, which had been announced by the companies in recent days.
“The rates for internet and mobile phone services will remain unchanged until further notice,” President Irro declared, adding that the government will, without delay, commence urgent consultations with the telecommunications companies to review the matter in full and seek a resolution that protects the interests of the public while supporting the sector’s sustainable growth.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the affordability and accessibility of vital communication services for all Somaliland citizens, emphasising that the government will take all necessary measures to safeguard consumer rights and maintain the stability of the telecommunications industry.
