The Somaliland Presidency, which traditionally observes Fridays as a non-working day, departed from its usual routine today as many key staff members were instructed to report to work. Essential departments, including Media and Information Technology (ICT), were among those asked to be present, marking a notable shift from previous Fridays.
Developments have been unfolding cautiously since last night, with officials refraining from providing detailed public comments. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), currently at his residence in Hargeisa, has been meeting with several senior members of his administration. He is also expected to enter the Presidential Palace shortly, where ongoing matters may be officially announced.
Informed sources indicate that one or more countries may soon announce formal recognition of Somaliland, a move that President Cirro would immediately welcome and acknowledge. The same sources suggest that diplomatic efforts by Villa Somalia to block these developments have not succeeded.
President Cirro has previously stated that Somaliland would receive international recognition during the month of December, though he did not specify which countries would take that step. Reports point to the United States, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates as leading actors in the current efforts.
However, it remains possible that the recognition process could be delayed in the coming days, as internal government reshuffling or coordination may take place before any formal announcement.
