Hargeisa, September 6, 2025 – Shock and mourning have gripped Somaliland after Axmed Xuseen Caddib, a former senior officer of the Somaliland Police Force and a veteran of the Somali National Movement (SNM), was found dead this morning in his hotel room in the Gacan-libaax district of Hargeisa.
Authorities confirmed that the late officer was discovered with a single gunshot wound, with a pistol lying beside him. The Somaliland Police Force has immediately launched a high-level investigation and pledged to release a preliminary report within the next 48 hours.
“This case is under urgent investigation, and we ask the public and the family of the deceased not to rush to conclusions until official findings are released,” the police said in a statement.
The sudden death of Caddib, a man remembered for his years of service and role in the struggle for Somaliland’s freedom, has sent shockwaves across the country. The General Command of the Somaliland Police Force has expressed its “deep sorrow” and extended condolences to his family and to the entire nation.
